COSTRUIRE UN NIDO

 

 

Il modello di nido da noi utilizzato é stato studiato dopo diversi anni di prove ed osservazioni effettuate nel nostro allevamento.

Seguendo le nostre esigenze, e quelle dei nostri Ondulati, volevamo ottenere dei nidi che offrissero un certo grado di protezione durante la cova, che fossero robusti, asciutti e caldi e facili da pulire.

Di seguito cercherò di spiegare, il più dettagliatamente possibile, come costruire un nido per Ondulati secondo il nostro modello.

Innanzi tutto, procuratevi un pannello di legno dello spessore di un centimetro; andranno benissimo i legni compensati e multistrati, ma non utilizzate il truciolare, in quanto verrebbe facilmente distrutto dal duro becco delle femmine.

Il disegno sotto riportato, illustra quanti pezzi e quali misure debbono avere per costruire il nostro nido.

 

BUILDING A NEST


The model we used the nest has been studied after several years of tests and observations made in our farm.
According to our needs and those of our Budgerigars, we wanted to get the nests that offer a degree of protection during the hatching, which were tough, dry and warm and easy to clean.
The following will try to explain as detailed as possible, how to build a nest for Ondulati in our model.
First, get a panel of wood the thickness of an inch, the wood will be well compensated and multi-layer, but do not use the chip, as would be easily destroyed by the hard beak of the female.
The drawing below illustrates how many pieces and what measures should be to build our nest.

Ora, procuratevi della colla per legno, dei chiodini per vetri lunghi cm 3, due piccole cerniere e tre ganci a "L" per legno.

Seguite le istruzioni della figura seguente.

Now, get some glue for wood, glass tacks 3 cm long, two small hinges, and three hooks to "L" for wood.
Follow the instructions in the following figure.
 

Prendete i pezzi 1, 2 e 3; e  uniteli con colla e chiodi tanto da formare una specie di "arco".

Badate bene a che su un lato siano ben pareggiati, mentre dalla parte opposta devono presentare uno "scalino" di circa un centimetro.

A questo punto iniziate a montare il pezzo 4 sul fondo e il pezzo 5 di fianco.

Ora dovreste aver ottenuto una specie di scatola con un fianco aperto presentante due "scalini" e l'altro parzialmente chiuso con un'apertura di circa due centimetri sul fondo.

L'apertura servirà a facilitare le operazioni di pulizia del nido stesso.

La figura seguente mostra come dovrebbe presentarsi ora il nostro nido.

A questo punto, unire i pezzi 8, 9, 10, 11 e 12 come nella figura seguente.

Quello che abbiamo appena costruito é la parte scorrevole del nido con delle pareti che impediscono ai giovani di cadere durante le ispezioni giornaliere.

A questo punto basta unire il pezzo 6 come indicato in figura e il pezzo 7 , unito al pezzo 6 tramite le due piccole cerniere.

Fino ad adesso, abbiamo costruito una sorta di scatola di legno apribile, dotata di una parte estraibile, ma il nido vero e proprio é la parte che richiede l'impegno maggiore.

Da una tavoletta di legno dello spessore di almeno tre centimetri, ricavate una "cunetta" del diametro di 12 centimetri e profonda, al centro due centimetri.

Per effettuare la concavità, io utilizzo un piccolo trapano elettrico e una piccola fresa sferica da legno.

A questo punto del lavoro, basta aggiungere il pezzo 13 appena sotto al foro d'entrata, che dovrebbe essere di almeno 5 centimetri di diametro, con un gancio a "L" chiudere la porticina d'ispezione e montare i rimanenti ganci a "L" a mò di appendino e finalmente avrete costruito il vostro primo nido...Complimenti.

La figura seguente mostra il nido terminato.

IL TUNNEL

Durante il periodo dell'uscita dal nido dei giovani (che coincide con la nuova deposizione da parte della femmina), può capitare che uno dei genitori attacchi i novelli. La femmina può farlo perchè disturbata dalla presenza dei figli e il maschio perchè vede in loro dei rivali (maschi) o delle possibili partner (femmine). Per ovviare a questo problema, io pongo sul fondo della gabbia da cova un tunnel in legno, in questo modo i giovani, entrandovi, potranno sfuggire agli sguardi degli adulti e avere una via di fuga.

IL NIDO IN PLASTICA

All'inizio della stagione riproduttiva 2012, ho provato con alcune coppie un interno nido in plastica e al momento mi stà dando ottimi risultati; al termine della stagione riproduttiva tirerò le somme e posterò foto e notizie dettagliate.
